The Summit represents the many metaphorical mountains that I have climbed. Mountains that I did not choose to climb necessarily but ones I found myself standing at the bottom of, looking up, and then looking behind me and realising there’s no turning back - the only way out is to climb. Some mountains have been short and less painful, and others have been summits that touch the clouds above. Those are the ones that took my breath away and left me with broken limbs a broken heart and a broken spirit, but still I climbed because I knew there was something bigger than me at the top. I knew that if I just reached the top, coming back down would seem like a breeze. I knew that if I faced all my demons at once that everything else in comparison would seem trivial. This mountain opened up my wounds and closed them all at once. It hurt me and healed me simultaneously. It taught me lessons i could have never learnt with both feet on the ground. I’m not sure how i survived this mountain but I did and one day I know that I will be faced with another - maybe small, maybe Everest but the view from the top is nevertheless incredible, and I’m willing to risk it all for that.
